It is very good to revise the curriculum in the light of development
in the field. I feel the B. Ed programme need to be focusing on
preparation of teacher educators and teachers in the area of
developing competence in implementing critical pedagogy with
constructive approach in inclusive setting.Today every classroom
requires competence of teachers handling individual differences with
appropriate pedagogical inputs. All other components are taken care
with inclusive strategies.

Teacher Education programs must be developed
as a full-fledged professional one.
In order to develop teacher education as a full-fledged professional preparation program, a number of actions have to be taken.
The duration of the program must be extended appropriately. ( Three Semesters program)
Visioning Professional Development as a continuous process
In-depth treatment of the knowledge base of teacher education must become a pre-requisite for making the program more professional.
Internship component must be treated intensively for full semester duration.
Creation new comprehensive integrated programs and courses must be undertaken.
Four and a half years integrated B.Ed. Program must be developed. (Bachelor of Secondary Education Program. (B.Se.Ed.) and Four Year Bachelor of Elementary Education Program. (B.El.Ed)).
Introduce a new stream for Preparing Higher Secondary Teachers.(Master of teaching in Higher Secondary)
Possibilities for preparing professionals for a new set of professions in human resource development will also must be sought.
Expertise of resourceful teachers in the general education system must be tapped appropriately.
The strengths of the existing B.Ed. curriculum such as Problem Based approach; Videotaping of teaching practice, School experience program, reflective practices etc. must be continued.

We have already implemented the revised curriculum in B.Ed and M.Ed
programs basically following the NCTE model curriculum with some additional
inputs on live projects like Service Learning, Action Research, Field
Experience, etc. Moreover, we have also additional inputs on Teacher
Eligibility Tests to make them job ready faster. It is being implemented
in semester pattern. Challenging for for both teachers and students but looks
worthy and useful. In six months time or so, the curriculum scheme and syllabus
also will be open to any body to see.

Congrats! Kurukshetra University has also revised B.ED. syllabi
while I was Dean during 2009 keeping 21 century skills required on part of
prospective teachers in mind..
Get a copy from the web page..That might help you..
We need to keep updated our syllabi every three years insted of
evey 10 years..

Pls try to include certain components on Gender Studies in the
new syllabus of B.Ed and M Ed. In a UGC sponsored two days workshop at Trg
College, Ottappalam, syllabi on these components were prepared. You may get the
details from Dr Ambili of NSS Trg College who was the coordinator of the workshop.
The purpose of the components is to gender sensitise the teacher trainees
and teacher educators so that the message will be conveyed to the huge masses
of growing minds so as to ensure gender justice in the society

The dimensions of Gender, Peace, and Conservation can be integrated into the normal components in the curriculum instead of including few topics on gender sensitization, peace education, Environmental conservation, etc. Because in the later approach, students either skip the topics or just learn it only in an exam point of view. Hence, purposeful efforts are needed to infuse these inevitable principles in the curriculum.

B.Ed. Curriculum Revision Open House Held on 02.02.2013
A SMASHING KICK-OFF TO
KERALA UNIVERSITY B.Ed. CURRICULUM
REVISION-2013
With a much enthusiastic and wider participation from Teacher Education
Colleges under University of Kerala, the Board Of Studies (BOS) initiated B.
Ed. curriculum revision process 2013 got an enchanting kick-off today at
Thiruvananthapuram. The day long Brain-Storming Open House held at the Govt.
College of Teacher Education at Thycadu, Thiruvananthapuram become a forum for critical introspection
and creative suggestions to revamp the Teacher Education curriculum of the
University with an aim to equip the future Student-Teachers on a competency
based managerial cum pedagogical knowledge/functional architecture to suite with
the challenging demands of the Twenty-First Century classrooms and society. A
common feeling of the assembly is that Twenty First-Century Students Need
Twenty-First Century Teachers and hence the Teacher Education process must
usher itself into the status of dynamic professional practices freeing itself
from the clutches of traditional approaches in Student-Teacher mentoring.
The one day programme was sponsored by the Publication Wing of GCTE, Thiruvananthapuram. Dr. Theresa Susan, HOD, Department of Education, University of Kerala inaugurated the Open House. Prof. Mary Xavier, Principal, GCTE, Thiruvananthapuram served an introductory toast and Dr. G. R. Santhosh Kumar, Chairman, BOS presided over the sessions. 70 Teacher-Educators including members of the BOS, 05 Research Students and 10 M.Ed. Students participated in the discussion.
The recommendations of the august body will be collated by the B O S (Pass) to formulate the design of the Draft General Frame Work of the curriculum revision. As a follow-up to today’s deliberations a Core Committee Meet (CCM) will be held on 13th February 2013 at Thiruvananthapuram.
