A SMASHING KICK-OFF TO
KERALA UNIVERSITY B.Ed. CURRICULUM
REVISION-2013
With a much enthusiastic and wider participation from Teacher Education
Colleges under University of Kerala, the Board Of Studies (BOS) initiated B.
Ed. curriculum revision process 2013 got an enchanting kick-off today at
Thiruvananthapuram. The day long Brain-Storming Open House held at the Govt.
College of Teacher Education at Thycadu, Thiruvananthapuram become a forum for critical introspection
and creative suggestions to revamp the Teacher Education curriculum of the
University with an aim to equip the future Student-Teachers on a competency
based managerial cum pedagogical knowledge/functional architecture to suite with
the challenging demands of the Twenty-First Century classrooms and society. A
common feeling of the assembly is that Twenty First-Century Students Need
Twenty-First Century Teachers and hence the Teacher Education process must
usher itself into the status of dynamic professional practices freeing itself
from the clutches of traditional approaches in Student-Teacher mentoring.
The one day programme was sponsored by the Publication Wing of GCTE, Thiruvananthapuram. Dr. Theresa Susan, HOD, Department of Education, University of Kerala inaugurated the Open House. Prof. Mary Xavier, Principal, GCTE, Thiruvananthapuram served an introductory toast and Dr. G. R. Santhosh Kumar, Chairman, BOS presided over the sessions. 70 Teacher-Educators including members of the BOS, 05 Research Students and 10 M.Ed. Students participated in the discussion.
The recommendations of the august body will be collated by the B O S (Pass) to formulate the design of the Draft General Frame Work of the curriculum revision. As a follow-up to today’s deliberations a Core Committee Meet (CCM) will be held on 13th February 2013 at Thiruvananthapuram.
