Two Year B.Ed. Curriculum of Kerala University in Practice: Consultation Round Table Held for M.C.Q. Question Bank Preparation for 4th Semester Online Examination in 2017

The first Round table Meet for the preliminary planning for the M.C.Q. Teat Battery for the proposed online examination of Student-Teachers  has been held today at G.C.T.E., Thycadu, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala under the banner of Extended Board of Studies in Education. A preliminary action plan got drafted which will be finalized and the process will move to next phase in the second phase of consultation to be held on 9th March at Thiruvananthapuram.

Two Year B. Ed 4th Semester Online Examination-Preparation of Question Bank.
The observations/decisions in  the meeting of Members of BOS and Subject Conveners held on
20-2-2016 at Govt. College of Teacher Education, Thiruvananthapuram.

1.  The question Bank of Edu-14 will have 600 multiple choice items and for EDU-15, 400 items for each  optional subject.
2. Subject committees have to be constituted for EDU-14 and  12 optional subjects under Edu-15 for the preparation of question Bank. The committee for Edu-14 consists of Convener and Seven  members.
For  Edu-15, for each optional subject there will be separate subject committees with Convener and Four members.
3. The following are the subject committees required for the task.

4.  Phases in the preparation and  finalization of question bank.
·        Listing out  all the important   learning points/elements  in the subject concerned ( for all the semesters/papers under edu-14 & 15), its discussion and finalization in the  one day workshop on 9-03-2016 Wednesday at Govt. College of teacher education, Thiruvananthapuram.  However the conveners are requested to consult  the committee members and to list out the  learning points sufficiently early and to attend the workshop with readymade materials.
·        Preparation of multiple choice items for the question bank in the subject concerned. This can be done by the Subject committee in consultation/assistance of the concerned subject associations. (four day workshop) April-2016
·        Consolidation/Finalization of the Question Bank.  (two day workshop)-May-2016.

6.         Workshop on 09-03-2016.- It is decided to convene a one day workshop on 09-03-2016 Wednesday at Govt. College of Teacher Education, Thiruvananthapuram  to prepare/finalize the learning points identified in each subjects. The subject conveners are requested to nominate the committee members  and to mail the details (including e mail address ) to the Chairman. All the Conveners and Committee members are requested to attend/participate in the workshop without fail for the successful completion of the work. Detailed guidelines for the writing of question items will be given/discussed in the first session of the workshop by External experts. 
7.         All the subject conveners are requested to constitute/reorganize/activate the subject  associations by incorporating/inviting all teacher educators   (Govt, Aided, Self financing, & KUCTEs) in the subject concerned and to make arrangements for monthly/periodic meetings for discussion. The subject committees are requested to pool as many items from available sources for the question bank availing  the assistance/participation/co-operation of  all the members of the faculty.
8. For Edu-14 the medium is English. For Edu 15- for subjects question bank will be in English and for Languages in the concerned language.

TWO YEAR B.Ed. CURRICULUM READY TO LAUNCH

The Two Year B.Ed. curriculum prepared by the Board of Studies in Education (Pass) of University of Kerala as per the revised regulations of the NCTE is being getting ready for publication. The new batch of Two year course announcement is expected by 20th June 2015. The course will commence on July First, will pave a historical and structural change in Teacher Education of the whole country.Hatts off to the team of dedicated Teacher Educators and Experts who worked behind this mission.

Visioning Workshop for Two Year B.Ed. Curriculum Held

In continuation of the previous attempts, an one day workshop on adding more flesh and blood to the general framework for the two year B.Ed. curriculum was held on 20th February at Govt. College of Education THYCADU, Thiruvananthapuram. The core committee formed guidelines for the framing of different theoretical and practical components to be Incorporated as the revised NCTE guidelines 2014. Subject wise coordinators and panel of experts as observers and advisers were identified. A school internship along with a mini project besides the intensive multi-phased practice teaching with training possibility in a digital world classroom are the expected highlights of the four semester two year B.Ed. curriculum of University of Kerala from the next admission onwards. The four day work shop to be held at M.T.T.C. Nalanchira from 11th to 14 February will give a final touch to the proposed two year curriculum.

B.Ed. curriculum under revision for 2 year course to Comply with Revised N.C.T.E. norms 2014

The combined meeting of Member of Board of Studies, Faculty and Subject Conveners met on 12th February 2015 at Mar Theophilus Training College Nalanchira Trivandrum formulated a draft framework for two years four semester B.Ed. of University of Kerala which includes multiple phases of Practice Teaching and Internship with performance based credit system. The next meeting of the Core Committee Schemed on 20th February 2015 at G.C.T.E. will further elaborate the  framework.
